By an accident, I learned a new shortcut-key “Space + Tab”. It removes all floating windows until you repeat the shortcut. Kanon! (That’s Danish and means cool)
Use it with “F” to get the largest view as possible on your screen.

While talking the greatest shortcuts, there are some others I want to share with you guys:

Holding “Space” down is a quick toggle between Pan and your selected tool.
“F5” = Brushes.
“F6” = Color.
“F7” = Layers.
“Shift+F7” = Invert selection
“F8” = Info.
Double clicking on the tool you want from the toolbar, brings up the Options for the selected tool.

Use them and let your mousefinger relax a little!

Come give us some examples on your Golden Short Cut Keys

actually, just the Tab key alone will make the pallettes disappear and reapear.

Thank you for sparing me for some silly extra work Jaquan.

Maybe it wasn’t so secret though... X-)

hehe, it works in illustrator too

Hi,

actually the combination "Tab & Space" is not neccessary. Using the "Tab" key on it's own works as well.

Also, ctrl+tab switches between windows but you all probably know that. roda B-)

Learning is like rowing against the current. As soon as you stop, you start going backwards.

and you can also invert the selection using

ctrl+shift+i

other shortcuts i find useful are the single key presses to switch tool. by holding the mouse over the toolbar for a few seconds it will display the name of the tool and the shoirtcut in brackets eg.

m for marquee
v for move
these are really useful when shifting elements around inside a document as u dont have to move the moue back and forth to switch betwenn move and marquee....

what a bonus!!!

:)

What I find absolutely rediculous though, is that they changes some of the Tools shortcut keys when they went from Versions Photoshop 5.5 to 6. AAARGH!!! Nothing worse than changing shortcut keys on someone that relys on them all the time.

I work with v5.5 at work, and v6 at home, so the annoying part of the whole thing is... I have to re-remember the shortcut key for each, everytime I go home, or to work.

I think, as an example, the Paint Bucket tool:
In v5.5 it's 'k'. I can't think of what it is in 6 right now, but I do believe it's something else. Press K in v6, and end up with a completely different tool.
WHY? Why must they change things like that???
Okay... enough gripeing.

As for a useful shortcut- If you wish to choose a tool and it's not showing (because there's multiple tools under the same button) SHIFT+ the key will switch them for you. At least in v5.5 . Can't remember right now about in v6

For example... Use 'g' to choose "Gradient Tool". Or 'G' to switch between Gradient Tool: Linear/Radial/Angle/Reflected/Diamond

Here's a great way to auto-straighten any scan. Grab the ruler tool and drag it along any line in the image that you wish was perfectly horizontal or vertical. Then immediatly goto the image menu and select rotate-arbitrary and the nearest level rotation will already be insterted for you.

JAQUAN, That's a good one, a star for you....... roda B-)

Here is a really useful shortcut... use Ctrl + Tab to cycle through all your open photoshop windows. This is handy when you are trying to move between files when you are in full screen mode.

"Shift+Tab" hides all open windows such as info, Brushes and so on, without hiding the toolmenu.
ShiftTab again and go back to normal.

Actually, as posted earlier in this string, TAB is all you need to hide/reveal pallets
