Hello all,

If I add a secondary zone to my system, when does it refresh it's tables from the primary server zone?

I want to add a secondary zone to my system. One of the A host records needs to be edited (the i.p address). If I change or re-create this A host record in the secondary zone, will it automatically change back to the Primary's A host record in a certain time interval?

Any help would be appreciated, thanks

It refreshes at the "refresh" interval, given in the zone's SOA record:

myzone.com IN SOA ns01.myzone.com. root.myzone.com.
(
2007051111 ; serial
10800 ; refresh (3 hours)
3600 ; retry (1 hour)
604800 ; expire (1 week)
86400 ; minimum (1 day)
)

Or, when the master notifies the slaves that an updated is needed.

Whether an update is actually performed depends on the serial number. If you manually update a slave's zone file, it should not be overwritten by the master until the master's serial number is made greater than the slave's.
