Here is our network setup.

1 Netware 4.1 (Single Server)
1 Netware 5.1 (Secondary Server)
1 Netware 5.1 (Secondary Server)

I need to disconnet a Netware 4.1(single server) and make Netware 5.1 to single server so we can have only two sever with Netware 5.1.

My Questions:

1. Is it possible?
2. what about the our tree setting(printer settup etc.). Is it going to effect our network setting?

Please let me know..

Thank you,

Sean

What exactly do you mean by Single Server? Are you referring to Time Sync when you say that?

Are they all in the same NDS tree? -----------------------------------------------------

I would suggest making on of your 5.1 servers a Primary time server, then reconfiguring the other 5.1 server to look at it for it's time source.

As for NDS stuff, you need to ensure that there are no NDS replicas on the 4.1 server. You can use SYS:pUBLIC\WIN32\NDSMGR32.EXE to check this. If there are any Master replicas on your 4.1 server, you need to set one of your 5.1 servers as the new Master. The 4.1 server should not have any replicas on prior to removing it from the tree. -----------------------------------------------------

TheLad,

Thank you for helping me out

I am new at the Novell so Could you please explain little bit more.

1)How can I make my 5.1 Sever to a Primary Time Server?
2)How can I reconfiguring the other 5.1 server to look at it for it's time source?
3)How can I set 5.1 servers as the New Master.
4)How can I remove replicas on 4.1 server.

Thank you,

sean

Ok:

1) On your 5.1 server, check SYS:SYSTEM\TIMESYNC.CFG. This will detail the existing timesync parameters. The layout will look something like the following:

------------------------------------------------------------
# TimeSync.Cfg is now updated automatically,
# when changes are made on the System Console

# TIMESYNC Configuration Parameters

Configured Sources = ON
Directory Tree Mode = OFF
Hardware Clock = ON
Polling Count = 3
Polling Interval = 600
Service Advertising = OFF
Synchronization Radius = 2000
Type = SECONDARY

# TIMESYNC Configured time source list

TIME SOURCE = NETWARE4SERVER
------------------------------------------------------------

where NETWARE4SERVER should represent the current name of your 4.1 server. If I was you, change SECONDARY to PRIMARY and you can remove the TIME SOURCE line. To make the changes take effect, type the following at the console: SET TIMESYNC RESTART FLAG = ON

2) Same file on your other 5.1 server (SYS:SYSTEM\TIMESYNC.CFG) but make sure it is set as a SECONDARY with it's TIME SOURCE pointing to your first 5.1 server (as changed in point 1).

3) Firstly, you need to identify what replicas are on your 4.1 server. Use NDSMGR32.EXE as already mentioned above to check this. Once you know what is on the 4.1 server, you can then use NDSMGR32.EXE to change the status of a replica from R/W to Master on your 5.1 servers. The following TID should guide you:

4) Again, check out the following TID:

Any other issues, please post them. -----------------------------------------------------
