After uninstalling Acronis OS Selector from my old comp with dual boot ( Win 98 SE and XP-SP3) was unable to boot any more, forced to reinstall both OS and also Acronis OS Selector, but when boot XP, receiving message “ Secondary master hard disk fail- press F1 to continue”,
Forget to mention I have two Maxtor 40 GB HD installed on this comp- HD1 with two OS and HD 2 serving as “Archive” to store all important data.
Check the BIOS – equal for both OS , all settings re. primary and secondary master are set to “Auto”, also Boot.ini is for both OS only one- why now when booting XP this message appears, and when booting Win 98 SE, no.
The second HD ( which I presume is Secondary master hard disk ) is visible and recognized from both OS, the comp is working normally- only this message and need to press F1 to continue bother me and create headache.
With appropriate apps checked both HD – all passed without any kind of problems, no bad sectors and similar .
Now I am uncertain what to do to avoid this. I don’t believe that this is hardware problem ( cables and bad connectors inside of PC ) bat something related to XP- .
This situation is very frustrating , so please if anyone can assist me and give advice how to solve this problem , I’ll be very grateful.
