I have installed a new mother board, an ASUS CUSI-M. I dont have the install CD as it was an OEM unit. Everthing works fine except the secondary IDE controller. It has a yellow exclamation mark in the system device manager and a "device not working or drivers not installed" diagnostic. I have tried the ASUS web site while there is a driver listed for this board for all WIN softwares but when it tries to install it tells me that it is only for WIN XP. ASUS says that the windows default drivers are adequate and that I may need to install the SISIDE dos drivers, which I have done with no fix. I have checked that BIOS is set for BOTH IDE channels. The device manage will not let me remove the IDE controller as it is "part of a parent device" which I have not been able to find and remove, this was tried as an attempt to have windows start fresh with drivers.

Have you performed a clean install of windows (which version, btw) since installing new board? (ie, you're not booting windows installed under a different board)

Generally replacing drivers will clean up the problem. You might want to put belarc ,aida32, or sandra on to see what the hardware reports and try to find the drivers to fit the number.
I have had luck with getting to the right spot with a google search for the chip number.
