I'm hoping I can at least salvage my data here. I'm sure if you've been in this position before, you know how I feel.

My power supply died yesterday. When I swapped it out, my secondary HD (WD 40 gig) was no longer detected by the BIOS. It's pretty clear there's a physical drive problem.

Sometimes it does, but very rarely. And it always takes a long time when attempting to detect it. Windows will not see it at all, and most of the time, will not boot up when the second drive is hooked up.

I've tried GetDataBack, and PC Inspector, but they aren't seeing the drive yet either. I guess that means I'm SOL, but if anyone else has an idea, I'd love to hear it.

believe it or not, if you leave it alone for a day or two and then come back to it, it ~might~ start working long enough to pull data. sounds stupid, but i swear this has happened 2-3 times to me. I spend hours trying every which way to recover, then i give up, disconnect it, and come back to it a few days later, and it spins right up.

if that and/or the "freezer trick" doesnt work, then your only other option probably will be to take it to a professional recovery service - but plan on spending anywhere between $300-$1500 depending on the scenario. also, they can never guarantee they will be able to get the data, but they are your best bet.

good luck!
