I have recently installd a BDC on the network running NT 4 SPa.

I have installed WINS on the BDC to push/pull with the PDC.

Can anyone tell me how to do the same with DHCP?

Thanks

There is no way for you to have the same DHCP scope defined in both server and maintain the sync. However, you could do the following:

Server 1
Defines Scope 172.20.4.1 -> 172.20.4.255
Only allow 172.20.4.1 -> 172.20.4.127 to be given out from this server.

Server 2
Defines Scope 172.20.4.1 -> 172.20.4.255
Only allow 172.20.4.128 -> 172.20.4.254 to be given out from this server.

That is the only way to do it with NT4.

Thanks for that information. If I leave DHCP completely on the PDC and that server fails How can I be sure to that DHCP will continue?

Thanks again.

You can create the same scope on the BDC, but leave it not-activated. Make sure you turn on collision detection too.

If the PDC fails, activate the scope. [auto] MCSE NT4/W2K

Actually, if you configure the 1st server to give out only the 1st half of the IPs and exclude the other half and the 2nd server to exclude the 1st half and give out only the 2nd half, they not only will act as a Load balancing but also if one of them fails, all you have to do is delete the exclusion and all will start working fine.
