Hi,

I have a setup of about 30 computers, same model. Pretty old, 2004-5, with P4s 2.4 GHz and an integrated i845 video card. We wanted to add a second monitor and bought some PCI Radeon 7000 cards with 32 MB of RAM and of course some nice DVI monitors.
After some time, I found out that some computers are somehow loosing the second video card, and of course the monitor. The Radeon 7000 is listed as a video card in Device Manager, but ATI Catalyst Control Center does not detect it and in Display Properties only one monitor is shown, the original one. The second monitor stays into power save mode.
I went as far as removing all traces of the Radeon 7000 card from the registry, but the card is not found again. The only way to revive it is to take it out of the current PCI slot in to insert it in another one.
Any ideas on what is wrong?

Only a quick idea but try installing driver cleaner pro to totally remove all traces of your video drivers, then install the most upto-date drivers.

It may be worth trying some third party drivers such as the Omega drivers ( but i doubt it'd have much effect.

Also make sure your mobo bios are upto date etc.

Good luck!

Thanks Xyphious, will try Driver Cleaner Pro. Lately I've seen the cards coming and going. I suspect it's the motherboard and it's resource allocation. It's a custom motherboard, it comes from (what I used to believe is) a reputable company, but it definitely does not have the volume of the better known MB manufacturers, and the support they provide is not much more than what I find googling.
I will post back if I find a resolution.
