Second NIC

Does anyone know how to have a second NIC with an internal IP play? I have installed a second NIC setup IP, mask, gateway, dns but the pc is unreachable nor can it go out on internet. It s on a LAN using a cable modem.

Is the NIC on the same machine ? Did you disable the first one ? Unless you are networking, its pointless to have two NIC in one machine.

Of course I m networking. I need to have the PC connect to two different LANS. That's why I installed two NICs one for each LAN with the appropriate IP each. Althouhg in network configuration both NICs exist and their corresponding IPs if I do an ipconfig only the first one is available.
