I have installed a second HDD in my Win98 machine. All cables are connected correctly, jumpers are set to be a slave (no jumper), it is spinning and I formatted it to Fat 32 on my XP machine. When I turn on the machine it starts up normally but the 2nd HDD does not show up in Windows Explorer.
In the BIOS I have trired auto detect and it would appear to me that it sees the drive so I am stumped.
Anyone have any insight on this one?
Thanks in advance.

Should explain:
Win 98 - updated yesterday
Pentium II / 500 / 128 MB
HDD #1 = 10 GIG
HDD #2 = 4 GIG
thanks,

First thing I would do is check in the Device Manager to make sure there are no errors on the IDE controllers or any other device. If there are errors on that, it will cause the drives not to show up like they should. Let us know the results of this

I think you could connect it again to your windows xp computer to check if it's detected there.

You still have other option besides that.

After first check the device manager on windows 98 in order to see if the hard disk is present or not, and if it's not there, check if the BIOS is detecting the hard disk with the correct parameters.
