I am running XP Home on a Dell 6 Gh drive. I want to install a 20Gh drive from another machine as a slave. The 20 Gh has Win98 and some other things on it. I will delete the Win98 and most others when installed. My question is will I need to install XP on the new drive or will it get it from the master drive. If I do need to install XP can I do it from the original CD or do I need to buy a new one? Thanks for your help. Eddie

Connect it making sure you have set the jumpers to slave, reboot, it should auto detect!
Go to my computer, find the second drive, right click, XP gives you a format option!
Format the drive making sure it is the same file format as you master drive, NTFS or Fat32.
No you don't have to put an operating system on it!
Just make sure it has 1 primary partition (so you use the drive as a whole) and it is formatted. Martin Vote if you found this post helpful please!!
