it is formated in ntfs

Did you have drive configured as dynamic (rather than basic) volume?

no when i made a partition it was basic it is working fine for last year or so with no problem. I don't know whether i can check the data on it or not or is there any software to check. Also can you please tell me whether it can fixed or not i need all the data i have on it. My motherboard was restarting my computer again and again I even tried reinstalling the xp but it restarted half way through but that was on the c: drive not in this drive.i check the motherboard i was damaged so replaced the cpu memory and motherboard with new one. My previous was 800mhz but pentium and now one is celeron 2.4 ghz so i have no clue what to do i don't want to format cause i want my data. the drive western digital pleas help thanks for your response

Now it says f: is not accessible The parameter is incorrect i dunno what is happening thanks

Have you got access to another working machine? If so, try installing the problem drive as slave in that machine & see if you can read it there. It sounds like you (still?) have a hardware problem on your machine - and hardware problems can cause all sorts of symptoms - which is why I'd suggest checking the drive elsewhere if you can.

sure i will give that a try as well. but is there any software that can recovere the data from the drive cause i am more concerned about data. i will check in the other computer. thanks for your reply
