I am in the ARS leading digits assignment form and I go to change second dial tone to 'yes' then I click save and 'NO' remains under second dial tone.

wtf?

System type??? Please remember to include as much information as possible. This will assist the forum members in being able to actually help you.

I am going to assume you are working on a 3300ICP. Is the ARS leading digit you are trying to change actually listed in this form? The digit entries in this form are auto-populated from the ARS digits dialed form. In the 3300 ARS programming, you MUST define the leading digit (eg. 9+area code+local number). Once this digit is defined, then you will see it in the ARS leading digit form and you can change to say YES.

sorry I always forget to include system type because I had never heard of Mitel until I got this job and so in my mind I only think there exists mitel 3300's.

ok. so I have two leading digits assigned in ARS digits dialed assignment form.

I dial 9 to get out onto the PRI
I dial 5 to get out on my personal landline.

the 9 works fine.
the 5 works fine too.

so I go to leading digits assignment. I go to change leading digit 5 and pull down the option for second dial tone, I highlight the yes and click. then I click save and nothing changes under 'second dial tone' same for 9 too.

no second dial tone, but I punch in the numbers and I can make a call.

In your ARS Digits Dialed form.

How many entries start with 9?

If more than one, do they all have unknown digits to follow?

If some have specific digits to follow are those digits 0 or some mixture.

Can you give examples of the what the Digits dialed form looks like and the Leading digits?

Also, did you post this issue once before?

This sounds familiar.

What is the software level.

Interesting...

I have never had a problem nor heard of a problem changing this option once the digit is defined in the form. Maybe an upgrade to a newer software level will help. Or use the maintenance commands to do a "DBMS check full". This will let you know if there are any database errors. If there are errors, then you should get in a Mitel tech.

Other than that, why do you need the second dial tone? It's not needed other than to provide "that warm and fuzzy feeling" to the phone user that everything is okay.

kwb.

only one entry for 9. 7 digits to follow.
I havent programmed an entry for long distance dialing yet. examples:

theres only 2.
5 7 digits to follow. term type = route. termn # = 5
9 7 digits to follow. term type = route. term # = 9

Ive never posted this trouble before, this is my first time assigning routes except in class and the class sucked my balls so I didnt remember a damn thing.

software version 8.0.10.7_1

Only having 1 entry is the issue.

Make another one even if it doesn't go anywhere.

e.g.
enter digits 9*1, zero to follow, route anything same as other.

Once you have more than 1 unique digit string you can assign 2nd dial tone. otherwise not.

Occam's Razor - All things being equal, the simplest solution is the right one.

well, that solved it. why the hell is that important?

Don't ask me, I'm only the messenger.

You can't have 2nd dialtone with unique entries in dialed digits.

*******************************************************
Occam's Razor - All things being equal, the simplest solution is the right one.

In fact, this second dial tone is fake and just mimics old systems when it was connecting to a CO line. It doesn't make any other sence. The issue is really minor and has an easy fix, so just make a note of it. Just 2c

you are absolutly right Kwb, i have posted the same question few weeks ago, by chance i discivered that when i put the seconde entry the system accepted to generate the seconde dial tone.(when i posted my question i didn't get this answer.

Brewski6666

I was trying to find your post, glad you found your answer.

It's quite a stretch for us "OLD" techs to assume that the dial 9 access only has 1 entry in dialed digits. Typically a properly configured system will have 20 to 30 leading 9 digits in North America.

*******************************************************
Occam's Razor - All things being equal, the simplest solution is the right one.

In this particular case author of this question was trying to setup prefix 9 for actual access to the CO lines and get dial tone from there... I think... Please correct me if I'm wrong.

Slapin,

when helping Brewski6666 earlier we made some wrong assumptions.

Sometimes the wording of the question is misleading and you get on the wrong track.

The wording at the beginning of this post left no doubt.

sorry Kwb for my english (it's the third language i am learning). please, be patient with poeple like me for whom its hard to express them selves in an other language.
