Hello,
I installed a second 7406 on a customers base unit. When I tried to set it up in the second port off the base all I could get out of it was (Scanning). I removed it and plugged it into the third port. It came up and works, only now it will say out of range intermittently. When she is on a call it will say out of range and she can hear the caller but they can't hear her. The antenna is up high in the ceiling. The original phone that has been on the base on port 1 works flawless and never gets this out of range condition. Why would an identical phone get out of range?
Dmac,

Hello Dmac,
When you put the second phone on the base did you send it's ID to the base? I think if you try that that will fix it.

You only send the SS code once from handset #1, when adding second hanset all you need to do is plug in digital signal to port #2 then power up second hanset and change the handset ID# to #2.
If your having problems still then default everything and start from scratch.

maybe its a bad radio in the ne wphone u got there.
for the 2nd phone do as curlycord says ...

security ID - is the same for all 3 sets, just the sed ID varies from 1 to 3.
i'm assuming u have only 1 base station setup

Hello,
I did set the ID to 2 and it wouldn't come up. Moved it to 3 and it came up but it has the out of range in the display once in while. I'll try what Curly suggested. I may of had the sequence out of order.Yes only one base station setup.
Dmac,

All my techs have had this problem and I tell them exactly as I told you and if still does not work then reverse handsets for the hell of it, (handset 1 is now 2 and 2 is now 3) and try again to make sure a handset is not flakey.
More testing:
With everything defaulted assign the first handset as #2 and if it does not work then maybe faulty mod cord in port 2 or crossconnect.

Curly,
I'll try what you suggested. Sounds like an easy fix.
Thanks,
Dmac,
