dear all,
I have a server with networker client installed and nsrnmo 4.1 installed
I am asked to add it it to another server
so that I will have backup to two servers
Do you think it will be enough to copy paste parameters from client definition on netwoerker server1 to networker server2
ie:
copy paste saveset
copy paste backup command
then see what to change on the rman script

or I have to add a new rman script which saves to the second server???

You must copy the script to the new client as well - how do you think it will get executed if it does not exist on that client?

Hi 605
the actual client is client1
it uses nsrnmo and backs up on nwsrv1
I have to back it up on nwsrv2 also
so can I use the same script to save to two servers
or create a new script which sends data to the second server

what do you think are these ways possible or one is better??

Stop, please. You want a straight answer - or even better, a commitment - from somebody that does not know the script at all. Is this logical?

Please have a look yourself. Honestly, you should be capable to adopt a given script to a changed environment.

excuse me i am not asking you to write scripts for neither to adapt a script
my question is simple
can we ackup to two servers from one clients using nsrnmo
using only one script
or i have to write two scripts
excuse me I didn't have enough time to do all searches
i am pressed y time and had to give an answer quickly
I wanted a quick answer
forgive my way of asking

I think, one must not be an expert to answer this question:

If you lookup your RMAN script, you will find the variable NSR_ENV(NSR_SERVER=... etc) .

Consequently, if you do want to backup to another NW server, you must of course change the NSR_SERVER parameter, at least) which results in a different script.

I think the variable mentionned is not so necessary so we can ommit it and I tried without it things worked fine

if you make server initiated backup with nmo 4.1 you dont have to change anything in the rman script because the server and pool variables (NSR_ENV) are set from the backupserver automatically.
If you make client initiated backups this changes.
For restore scripts you too have to configure servername and pools in the restore script.

a060463xyz thank you very much for your kind help ( it has always been the case)
I have tried that and all is working
I was looking for any summary if somebody had an experience with backing to two servers
before applying it in the customer hosts
Things gone very well
the special thing I did is to create a double destination for the archivelog.
may it can help someone
thanks.
