SECC Historical Statistics Duration

Does anyone know if changing the duration that historical statistics are kept on the server in the Advanced Functions area of the SECC has an effect? Will the system use the settings that you put in or will it use the settings shown in the documentation?

it has only effect on your hard disk space, and might in the long run have effect on your speed of your processor
