Just took over a customer with a SECC 4.2 and am having probs with the network backups. The SECC server does not have a tape backup unit. I built identical users on both the SECC server and the backup PC, gave each user admin rights, logon as a service in the SECC server, made sure the passwords were the same and the backup still fails. "The database backup has errors or warnings" I even tried backing up SECC to itself with the same error in the log. I have been trying for days, any ideas?

have you tried to backup locally to the server on a drive with some space? that will rule out any network issue.
ensure the backup user is full admin & apart of the backup user too (domain problem?)
try using NGensys for the user that logs on as "computername_BK" (right click under services, log on with "Ngensys"

To add to roadrunr92's response, it may be that your problem is due to not having the right logon context in your Sybase backup service. You must right click on the service, click on Properties, go to the Logon tab of the service and update the logon context to reflect "this account" (versus Local System Account) -- update it to show the account that you created for this purpose.
Hope this helps.

:) Clone it live (driveXML) The best backup in my opinion. IF the drive fails put new ones in and dump the clone back on it. If the box fails you can run the clone as a virtual machine with VMWare and your not hardware dependent.
