Searching the Network

I'm a network admin at a High School. I need to know how to search our servers for a specific filename. I don't want to take ownership of user files and browse them, I just want to know if a given file is present on the network server and where it is located. I've tried using "Find" and it works ok for files I have permissions on, but our individual user files are created with only that user having access and "Find" doesn't look in them.
Is there a way of doing this?
