Hi I am thinking of putting a site together as an Intranet but all the files will be stored on a file server and not a web server. Will I be able to use the search facility in Front Page and if so what will I need to do?

Thanks in advance
Tez

Our Intranet is stored on a File Server.

The only two things I've generally kept in mind is that you point IIS to the correct location of your site, whether it be locally or on a network drive. Secondly, when you create a new web, again make sure you specify the correct location. As long as FrontPage is allowed to apply it's necessary features to the folder it can reside anywhere on your network.

All FrontPage's features should then work for you.

Cheers for your help Craig
I am right in saying that front page extentions will then need to be installed on an IIS server? Then have this server will need to be pointed to the files server where the web pages are stored?

Oh yeah, sorry I should have said, FP Extension will need to be installed on the IIS Server. There is also a Service Release you may be recomended to install which fixes some issues.

... and then, as you said, you just point IIS to the location on your File Server where the web pages are stored.

Hope you get on ok.
