Hello!

One of my colleagues asked me if it was possible to search for filenames containing a white-space.

She's running Windows XP and uses the default search-engine.

Small example:

She searches for 6107 710 to find the file named 6107 710.xls, but she gets this:

6107 710.xls
6107100.xls
6107105.xls
etc.

I've tried adding " " to the search term, with no luck. I've tried using & in between and | and so on, but I can't seem to get it right.

Any tips? And is it even possible to do?

Best regards
Thomas

6107 710.xls produces no results, unfortunately. :(

Just confirming that you tried 6107underscore710? I created the files listed above plus a few others 6107208.xls, 6107 208.xls, etc. and when I search for 6107_710 all I get is 6107 710.xls.

Hope this helps.

Hmm that is weird. If I search for 6107_710 I get no results, at all.

Same happens if I create three text-files (test document, test document 2 and test 3 document)

If i search for test document, i get all three of them. If i search for test_document i get none :(

Seems I solved it.

Searching for "6107 710*" returns all files that starts with the exact phrase 6107 710 :)
