Is there a way to determine if a folder exists on the client without using Active X?

Accessing client files is one of those there security risks that they attempt to not allow people to do, while there are ways around it (like kicking in their front door and accessing their computer ) this is not easy or legal to do without their permission and falls under the general heading of "no". :b
