Searching Email in Distribution List Within Outlook Contacts

We have various large distribution lists set up within the contacts of outlook. We use a service that sends a fax from an email based on (fax number)@host.com, but when one doesn't go through, it is returned and all they show is the email address. We need to be able to do a search that will find the email address for a contact that is burried within a distribution list.

If anyone has an idea how to do this or if you have had to do it, please advise.
