Searching and Text Form Fields

Hello,

I have a number of MS Word documents stored in Livelink that contain information in fields created using the MS Word 'Forms' toolbar. The fields are all Text Form Fields (unlimited length), but may contain any alphanumeric info (ie: a phone number, addresses, comments, etc).

When searching for information in the documents (I have tried this using Advanced Search - Full Text, Advanced Search - Natural Language Query) Livelink does not appear to search these fields consistently.

What I mean by 'consistently' is that it will sometimes find the search information, but not always. For example, a telephone number in a field by itself (ie: the Telephone field) will not be found in one document, but the same number may be found in another document as part of another field (ie: as part of a sentence in the Comments Field). Both the 'Phone Number' and 'Comments' Text Form Fields have the exact same properties.

My questions:
1. Does Livelink ignore Text Form Fields when indexing, or is there a bug that prevents these fields from being searched consistently?
2. Is the 'summary' searched only? How does the summary get created?
3. Has anyone else ever encountered this behaviour?

You don't mention what version of Livelink you are running and what versions of MSWord? I have just tried what you mention in 9.5sp1 and I am not seeing what you describe. If you are running an older version of Livelink then anything is possible. If you have a particular set of documents examples that are troublesome then contact CS and they will verify the issue with the developers.

Hi David,

This is a known bug (1920505) in Livelink 9.2 SP1 with the QDF filter. This is fixed in Livelink version 9.5.0.

There is a workaround but we're upgrading soon, so we will wait.
