Can I create a query that has all my tables in it and all the unique fields.

Can I then do a search on any field. I would like to be able to go the the particular field and just type in the critera and then click a button to have it search for the appropriate record.

Is this possible? I want something like what you can do in Excel when you use the form feature.

Thanks
Sharon

Have you considered using the Filter by Form function? Create a form with all the fields for each table and then use the Filter by Form button to Filter the records.

Also...see the following thread for a search example:

Yes - I think what you want to do can be done (although crudely) with the FILTER-BY-FORM feature of a datasheet.

Build a query with all your table and fields joined together appropriately. Open the query dataset, and click the FILTER-By-FORM button (the middle one between the funnel and the lightning bolt. Type a value in a field, and hit the APPLY FILTER button (the funnel). If you have data that passes the filter, you'll see it.

This should get you on the way..

You guys are right filter by form is messy and really does not give me what I want. I would like to see a datasheet view of all the records that match my criteria.

I'll go check out that thread now.
