Searches in "Sent Mail" only bring up items older than June 7

One of my users basically uses his sent items folder as a catalog for emails. He uses the search tool to search the sent items folder, but it will only show emails from June 6 and prior. But when you physically go to the sent items folder, newer emails exist and can be opened and viewed. Why is this? What can I do to fix the issue?
