The only problem you could have is that if all you're doing is in effect launching a tasty SQL query on the database, the VB code will just freeze as you do it...
There are probably two ways around this. The first is I think ADO supports asynchronus operations. The second would be to use some form of threading... VB is not supposed to support multithreading (at least, not at a level you can control yourself), but a former colleague of mine claims to have achieved it though API...
