Hi,

I have a file with more then 50,000 records in Excel, when I go to find, and do search for a particular record it takes a very long time, then I changed the option to search by Column and Vlues in the Find options instead of Rows and Formulas, with these settings it is quite fast, but I want to set these options as default.

Any help would be highly appreciated.

Regards,
Muhammad Tayyab

If the text you're searching for is in A50000, then Excel will find it on the 50000th try when searching by columns. Whereas if you're searching by rows, and you have 100 columns in your table, it will take Excel 5,000,000 tries to find it.

The easiest way to optimize your searches is to highlight the column you're searching on - that way only that column is searched.
