I am having trouble searching only in a specific folder in Windows XP Profesional edition. In Win98, I could search for a word in any specific folder. In WinXP, I can only search either drive A, C, D, or My Computer. For example, if I want to look in a folder named "Drawings" for a file called "Spiral", I can't do it. I have to wait while it searches the whole computer (4 minutes long). How do I get around this problem. VERY FRUSTRATING.

You can click search in the toolbar at the folder you wanna search in. This reduces the searchtime.

Thanks Raggmunk. Another way is while in Windows Explorer, go to any folder you want to search, right click it, and choose search.

Using the XP search function, you can also search for 'all files & folders' then at the bottom of the 'look in' list there's an option for 'Browse'

You might want to try turning Indexing off. On my system Indexing (which is supposed to make search faster) actually slows things down dramatically. I have turned it off and found searching to be more like what I am used to in Windows 98.
