HELP!!!!

I cerated a report for a client previously where after I compiled, the end user could change the criteria of the select expert when running the exe file.

I am trying to do this again, except when he needs to search by is not exact. So I tried creating the select expert criteria with the "like" or "starting with" commands, which works fine in Crystal. But when I compile the report, it no longer prompts me if I would like to "modify selection formula" as it did with my previous report. I really need it to do this.

HELP!!!!

Sam,

What version of CR are you using?

The "modify selection formula" feature only works with equal, greater, less than and between.

You could use parameter fields instead.

I am using Crystal 6 for this.

So If I created a parameter field, and placed it on the report, thenn compiled, it would let me modify the selection criteria?

no, you use the parameter field in your selection formula (no restrictions) in place of the literal value. The report then prompts you for the parameter value instead of asking you to modify the formula. This is just a newer way of doing it that is more flexible. Ken Hamady
