Hi all,
I've got a real strange problem. When I start IE6 up on xp home (sp1) with about:blank set as home, I get IE opening ok but it starts another window (also iexplore.exe) according to task manager which has a consumer search page thing i.e. household goods etc.
I run norton and it hasn't trapped it and I've looked in my BHO's and nothing is causing it from there.
I've run adaware and spybot both of which have no effect.
It's not a big deal i can close it but it's a pain.
Has anyone any thoughts for which I will gladly buy an virtual-beer !.

Have you tried Hijackthis, Spybot, and Ad-aware? I would start with Hijackthis, then go on to Spybot, and then Ad-aware.

- Hijackthis
- Spybot
- Ad-aware

Make sure you read the licenses, especially for Ad-aware, as if you are in a business, or educational environment, you have to pay to use this.

I had to use a series of 3 different bot removers just to get about:blank to go away. Follow TechieMicheal's advice and just use them over and over.

If anyone calls and says "I know a little something about computers" just tell them to reformat it.
