Search output redirection to symbol

How Can I redirect the output from a search into a symbol???

I try this without succes

pipe search file_name "test" | symbol1 = sys$input

I just fix my issue with that command

pipe search filename rechstring | open rech sys$inptut /read ; read rech var1

In my case the result of the search is single so it's working.
