Search or Find Button can't find data in sub-report

In crystal reports 8.5 I have a subreport which contains formulas. The report works fine and displays all my data correctly, however, when I try to search the report for a specific name using the "Find" button it justs says string can't be found. Is there a limitation or issue with cyrstal reports that won't let you search data in sub-reports.

I think you would have to preview the subreport and then do the search within the sub.

Not sure what you mean. The report runs from a vb app. What exactly do you mean by preview first?

You would have to open the subreport by double clicking on it in order to search it. You would have to reenter the search term in the "find" area. I don't know how running the report from vb affects this.
