Hopefully someone has encountered this problem before, I installed and configured WSS 2007, everything is working great except search. When i search logged in as Administrator i get results, but when I'm logged in as a normal user I get a "No Matching Results Found" message. I'm using the same search criteria. I've added Authenticated Users eveywhere that i can find anything related to permissions but I've obviously missed something. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks,
Robert

So you've added Authenticated Users permissions to the Visitors or Members group at the top of each of your site collections?

On one site collection, try adding a specific user account to the site's Member's group and then see if searching with that user account gets you any results.

Thanks, that actually worked, but doesnt that give everyone in the group contribute permissions? I dont want most users to be able to make changes, what exactly does the "Contribute" permission allow users to do?

Well, instead of choosing Member, put those users in Visitors. I'm just thinking you should use the "Domain Users" group instead of "Authenticated Users", and put it in the Visitors group. Then escalate rights for any users that you want to be contributing by adding them (or a group with them in it) to the Members group...

Ultimately, it comes down to the users needing read rights on the targets of the search for them to be able to get any search results. And "Authenticated Users" is a bit iffy in terms of search results. It would be better to directly specify a group with real membership, like Domain Users or another group that users can actually be added to and removed from.

That did the trick, thanks for all your help. I had authenticated users added to the "Visitors" group and it wasnt working, but when i changed that to "Domain Users" it worked like a charm

Thanks again
