search for files that don't contain specified string

Is there any software for Windows 7 that will let me search a folder and find all the .txt files in all subfolders that don't contain the string "cheese"?

Don't know about any available on the market, but you can write your own - in, let's say, VBA in Word or Excel - that could do that. I am sure TT members will be happy to help you.

What if you search for all the files with "cheese" in them and then Cut the results found (with Cheese) and paste them into a Temporary Folder leaving the non-cheesy file in place.

Remember to paste the Cut files back to the original position.
