Hi!

I am preparing some kind of task for absolutely new Livelink users. They should learn something about the hole system and its basic features. The Idea is to provide every participant of this task as small bundle of Information. This is their knowledge which they should upload into the Livelink system.

My idea is that all participants should collect some of these informations (from the other participants) with the LiveLink search engine. Here is my first question:

1). I think the permission "see" only allows the user to watch the file name. So, everybody has to contact the owner of the information and the owner has to give the permissions. But, are there ways to specialize some "search key words" that help finding the right files or does this only work about the filename?

Everybody should use the search engine to get the information. Then the participant should ask the information owner for the right permissions. He collects the right information and puts it into a text file which he uploads into the livelink. The other participants should watch this file and rate it ... My second question:

2). Everyone who rates a file have to give a comment about his rating! Is there a way to make the comment field into a "must have"?!

Thanks for your opinions and answers!

I do not know a lot about search but these are my views
When a person searches a livelink volume(Enterprise,All Versions) etc livelink admin and index server brings up the results. Then it filters the results according to the user to see if the user has permissions to see those objects
The search can be made on meta data (categories and Attribute)

2)I think you are trying to use the Task List and Task feature of livelink.Though it can be used for the said purpose the interface(gui) elements do not look easy for making modification.True if you can locate the files you may be able to make it mandatory and things like that.May I suggest a more re-usable way.You could create a simple workflow modelled after the task ,put all the task elements as workflow attributes and send the instruction to any prospective user/group.Workflow attributes are very flexible and you can make them mandatory, visible etc at each step. The results from this workflow can be queried by standard sql or live rports and you can draw alot of inferences.A workflow map is very versatile and easy to use and re-use

Always acknowledge a fault. This will throw those in authority off their guard and give you an opportunity to commit more.
