Search engine searches a network share only when mapped

I have a network shared folder and when i browse through that and inside that there are a few folders.When i give search for files inside those subfolders it shows no files found.But if i map that particular folder to my machine it shows the files in that? why is this.Any document to support the answer would be appreciable

The search feature of Windows has many issues, but refusing to see a local folder is not one of them.

May I suugest a replacement with Agent Ransack search?
