I am using ASP to create dynamic pages for a site and being new to ASP I am concerned with how I can gain recognition on search engines. I understand some of the basic ways to do this with standard html pages, but am unsure of how to get a significant standing on a search engine with ASP.

Thanks in advance for any advice you can offer.

-----------------------------------------------------------------------
Experience is one thing you can't get for nothing.

Dear crystalized,

You have go seach engines sites and submit your page to them.

Search engines will work on content to your pages. when any asp page come to client browser it comes in form HTML page.

So seach enines treat them in same manner like static HTML page.

Anand Mishra

Dear Crystal,

Obtaining high ranking in search engines is very tricky/complex and can even be more complex depending on your sites content and focus. Some of the search engine owners even sell higher rankings in search results. Anyway here is a link to an extensive and accurate set of pages that discuss this issue.

<A HREF=" TARGET="_new"> luck
-pete

I have just the same concern. How often do you see .asp pages when you use a search engine? Almost never, and when you do it's always the default.asp or index.asp top-level page. The problem is that search engine spiders only follow .htm or .html links - when they see a .asp link they don't follow it.

My proposed solution is to make my HOME page a .htm page (index.htm) with a link to a table-of-contents page which is also .htm (e.g toc.htm): on this toc.page all my .asp pages will be listed. Maybe (?) a search engine will then index my .asp pages. Will this work? Anyone got any ideas?

Not all engine will index, asp file. They are all slowly picking it up though, most have had the worry of getting traped in a dynamic spider loop or something. I would not suggest just submitting your site to the engines though. There are many tricks of the trade, and just sending your site like that will not give you the points you need for the top. I would recommend that you look around for a professional promotion guy. They are kinda pricy, but if you have a good one they can work wonders. The one I use for my sites can get me an extra 800 people a day per month in only 2 months. <A HREF=" TARGET="_new"> a look around there are alot of them out there, but watch for the scammers!
