Search Engine Option in IE 6.0 - Stuck on MSN

Our desktops are Win98SE, IE 6.0 w/SP1, Office XP Pro. Problem: In IE when using the Search Button (which opens a split windows with the Search Option in the left pane). Any and all searchs return only the MSN Search engine. No search results, no other settings options, no other search engines. This just started happening within the last week or two.

Anyone else having this problem? Anyone know of a fix? I've tried all the settings in the Customize choice and searched the Tools - Options for a default search setting but haven't found one. ???

(Is this another on Microsoft's attempt to envade our freedom of choice?)

Did you click on the "Custom" button?

That's where the search options are.

Yep. Been there - changed all that could be changed. Has no effect.

Right now the best I can offer is a reghack- This would change it to Google or you could replace the urls with another search engine.
If you are not familiar with the registry, copy below into notepad and save as google.reg. Then just right-click -> Merge the file.
