I am currently working on a web site.
I have introduced the meta tags with key words for my site, and now when I search on Yahoo.com or Metacrawler.com,
my page is missing. I tried all the combinations necessary but still I can't find my site.
Help me find my site.
Vijay Donthi
vdonthi@ezode.com

It won't be easy. There are virually hundreds of combinations that you likely missed. Usually a search engine puts you somewhere at the bottom of the pile, especially if it's a relatively famous topic. Use a tracker such as Extreme-DM (<A HREF=" TARGET="_new"> and someone is bound to come across some search terms where you're in the top 50. Trust me, it's not easy. I had the same problem and still do, for the most part. Go ahead and look at my sight and then try to look for it at the famous search engines of which I submitted to (i.e. Altavista, Excite, Yahoo!, etc.).
REH
hawkdogg@crosswinds.net
<a href= by Linux
Learn Linux and Leave out the Windows :)

Also search engines take up to 3 months to register your site.

There used to be a shareware submitter that was about $30 to buy, but I can't remember the name. Try shareware.com under Internet programs.

It is not an easy thing to do as you are finding.

Guys, tell me if i'm right on this....

Some search engines crawl through the web by themselves and others you have to submit your site to them.

They say that it will be added in a few weeks, although in reality this could be months..

Engines like Excite do not like frames

Just adding meta tags is no guarantee that a search engine will ever find your site.

I found a good book in Borders the other week (I read it there instead of buying it, of course) about strategies for getting good listing positions [e.g. for Excite have your main words multiple times in your description]. If I can find it again, I'll post details.

Pretty much right, yes.

You can submit your site to a search engine even if it has a bot trawling the net.

Frames confuse indexes cos you get a return on your main.htm but you actually need to load index.htm hence the problem.

I find that the easiest way to find yourself on a search engin, is use some word found on your site that is most likely not found elsewere.

Just go to any search engin, and type my name, Andre Vandal, and you will see all my sites appear.

Though recently, I have seen two other guys named Andre Vandal, which also has his sites on the net... darn it! I'm not alone anymore...
Andre Vandal
dezign@canada.com
<a href= Dezign's Sites
A bit of eveything Celestial
