how can I build a search engine form on my site and only produce results on an another page for my site only?

i've seen other small scripts but with my limited technical abilities, its all greek to me.

i'm using FP2000 for my editor and i don't know much.

can someone please explain in GREAT detail on how to do this or direct me to somewhere it does?

p.s. i've tried to use the one in FP but no luck, i can't configure it to search in my site only.

Thanks
Chris

Chris,
If your site has its own domain name, you can do it with Google.

If your site is small (<500 pages) you can do it with Atomz.

For either of these go to the WebMonkey site and search for info. They have detailed instructions... as I recall the Google info is on a page about 404 error pages. WebMonkey uses Atomz and is where I found out about it. I have used the Atomz free search service for years before I inquired about paying them for a bigger site and found out there was no way to ever afford it.

Sorry not to be more specific,

You may want to check with your host as well. Some actually include a cgi script called Entropy Search or something similliar you can set up via their control panel.

Quite easy to use but note it searches all of the ASCII (text) files on your site. This includes HTML, PERL, plain text files, etc. Since there is no way to limit the search engine, if any of these files contain sensitive information, either encrypt the files or remove them from your site.

Hope this helped!

Ok, thanks for all the responses but I'm very illiterate when it come to script or adding scrip to my web site.

Like Foxdev I also use Fluid Dynamics. It's an excellent script and easy to install.

if your server is Unix download the tar.gz and it will install automatically! You don't need to know anything about server languages to get it working.

It's free btw.
