When working in a Folder and clicking on the Search Icon (Magnifying glass) I now get a web search instead of the search companion which gives me a choice of looking in files or folders. When I attempt to customize it back to Search Companion I get the following script error: Can some
help me get the search companion back?

Thanks

Have you tried using System Restore to go back in time if this is only a recent fault?

Do you see the same fault from Safe Mode, or from Normal Mode but as a different user?

Does pressing F3 bring up Search from Explorer?

Reinstall Search assistant

Try running ChkDsk to check your drive for errors. Right-click your Drive icon/ Properties/ Tools/ Error Checking. Select both boxes.

Run the System File Checker program from the Run Box by typing.....Sfc /Scannow in it and have your XP CD handy.

Thanks Linney

I was able to get to the change preferences by entering the search companion through the start menu rather than through a Folder WIndow
