Search by form on linked tables

I have an Access application that relies heavily on the Serch by Form feature.

I should have known better, but I waited until the end of the development process to split the db into a front and back end. Once I started using linked tables I discovered the dropdowns for text fields in the "Search by Form" mode only offered "is null" and "is not null." Previously they offered all previous entries in the field.

Is there a way around this?

After I made the above entry, I believe I found the solution.

Once I changed the text box property: filter lookup from "database default" to "always" the dropdowns worked as before.

Whew.
