Hello,

Do a search on Google with keywords such as "best website design awards" and you are bound to find the ugliest websites of the web!

After the intro, here is the question: are there websites that are specialized in gathering URLs of very very NICE
(either graphically or technically) websites, kind of a bank of URLs to get inspiration from?

Thanks for sharing your nice li'l URLs.

cTime to criticize websites everybody seem to love...

The only thing I saw is:
- Lack of freedom while browsing those kind of sites (always
the same Flash popups, small window mode or fixed 1024*768 res). You spend more time finding the way to navigate than navigating!
- Lack of content (always the same advertising bullshit
about way to do design. Sometime, there is no contents at all)
- Fact that all the designers are using always the same
ideas (I got about 50 examples of the same new futuristic/complex/messy style [just don't know the name
for that] that people are repeating over and over).
Furthermore, that's so easy to do that with Freehand ... (there is a filter for this kind of vectorized nonsense.)

The conclusion is: I prefer simple beautiful websites where people can find useful information with several ways of navigating
users can choose from. Quite RARE.

It's funny that someone pointed out the MOMA workspheres site ( That one was an example on webpagesthatsuck.com for a very long time. I would have to agree with that assessment. There is no reason that a site like that needs to be done using Flash, or at least not have a HTML version.

Don't get me wrong. I like Flash and there are some really cool sites out there that use it, however a critical design concept is lost on many..and that is "just because you can do something, doesn't always mean that you should." And that can be irritating at times. Especially if I have to sit through a useless Flash intro, or be told which browser to use, what resolution to set the monitor to, etc.

Speaking about someone who is looking
for a particular furniture will spend a lot of time
to find it. Considered the fact that you're never sure
that you 've searched without missing the product, you'll
search one more time. Double waste of time. How will you
find a chair designed by m.xxx? Here, you have to mouse over
all the products of each category one by one....great!

I prefer database driven web sites because then, you can
get the piece of information you need with almost one click.
Time is money isn't it? My Work...
