I have a Seagate ST2000A1 tape backup drive (IDE), and am having difficulties getting the backups to work. When the jobs try and execute, they get stuck at loading media. When the job first starts, the tape drive light lights up and the tape starts winding for a few seconds, and then nothing, the job monitor at that point states "loading media" still... but at this juncture I have no idea what might possibly be wrong with the backup job, any ideas?

We have had the same problem with the same type of device. Usually it is because it is a bad tape. Try reformatting the tape or use one that is know to be a good tape.

I can not reformat/format the tape, the media/drive does not support it according to the manual. I still get load errors, "loading media" is as far as the progress for the jobs gets. I can erase the media, I can catalog, but I can not backup to the tape.
