Hi People,

I hope it is allowed to ask some questions about Seagate Info in here.

It is my first time to use SI 7 seriously. I tried to use SI some times, but I always had sad days after using it.

I want to refresh a report when I am a sleep :). When I schedule a report it is always FAILED. English isnt my native language, but I know it isnt good when something failed. I use:

Crystal Reports 7.0
Seagate Info 7
Microsoft Access 2000
Windows 2000

I am the only person in the company who use SI7 right now.I built the report with CR7.0 a few weeks ago. The data is in a MS Access file. I use ODBC (for Access) to contact that file (kenmerkcheck.mdb). When I refresh it in CR7.0 It will be ok. When I schedule the report, I got this error:

PE StartPrintJob : Cannot open SQL server.

Can some body help me?

henky: your problem is tht you have not looged into the data source before runbning your report. You will need to ensure that you have completed the Login Prompt from the Schduling tab before you schedule the report. Try opening the report in the Report Designer and running it. If you can then the problem is with data access between your Info Server and your database. Check that the Info Server has the same data source(s) and can log in directly to the source use in your report David C. Monks

Hi,

I will put some screenshots on this post, so some things will be clear to you. I want to update the report. The report is called tiepfauten.rpt.

1st pic: I just want to update. I think this is allright.

2nd pic: Right now is OK for this time. I guess this isnt the reason why it doesnt work jet.

3rd pic: I use MS Access 2000. In the report I use the database kenmerkcheck.mdb paht=C:\access\ There are no passwords necessary to use the database. In the report I use ODBC to connect the database. (ODBC is called STATTELE)

4rd pic: selection Formula is the same as in the report. I didnt change it.

5th pic: Doesnt matter I guess

I think there is something wrong above. I hope you can help me. If updating the reports doesnt work, I better go home, cause I need that automatic updating. BTW when I open the report in CR 7.0 or in CR 8.0 (other Computer) i can update that report. But I want to schedule the reports using Seagate Info. The post above will explain a bit more. I hope you understand my problem. Thank you for reading.

Henky,
DCM is right in asking you to open and run the report in designer, once you get data through designer, it should come through on the desktop. You will also know if the table has been changed since report creation and fix it in the designer. If your database has no p/w but the Info Desktop is looking for it, that may also be creating the error. If possible, have a p/w for the database and enter it in LOGON tab (pic 3 above) when scheduling on the desktop. Also see Article ID: c2002283 in the knowledge base, it confirms that the error is due to login problems.

According to the article, the other reasons could be:
- An incorrect password was typed in the Logon tab during scheduling
- The ODBC data source being used for the report does not exist on the Info Report Server computer
- The SQL database client was incorrectly installed or configured on the Info Report Server computer

So you think I have to make a password on my database and my problems are over?

henky: There are a couple of things for you to do.

1. Check that you have the latest maintenance release of Info - current product is 7.5 last version before was 7MR2 - maintenance release 2.

2. Make certain that your Info Server can connect to the ODBC source to run the report - the quick way to do this is to go to the Info Server machine, log into Info, open the Report Designer, load in the report and preview - if you get a response OK if not then check the datasource definition - it must match that used by you when you designed the report.
