Been looking at Seagates site and searching the web but not found but information on Seagate Info7. This is what I need to know. I wounder if any of you have any ideas?

Any help would be great.

Is Crystal 8 compatible with Info 7. I have read some points in your forums which say it is not. If it is not do you have a release date for the next version of Info 7 and would it be compatible with 8?

Do I need to purchase a version of Crystal along with Info 7.?

Does the report designer in Info 7 come with all the reporting creating features of Crystal?

Can each individual user of the reports select criteria and schedule a report to be emailed, printed saved to file etc..?

Can I group all of the reports and schedule one time for them to be printed. For example there will be about 100 reports can I set one time and all of them use that configuration?

Does it work with Oracle databases, are there any versions it does not work with?

We have some reports already created in SQL *Plus and Oracle developer 2000 6i. Is it possible to convert them. If it is not possible is there a round about way it can be done. For example copying some SQL code.

How complex is the installation procedure?

Can I have the reports automatically scheduled to be emailed to someone each night with me only having to configure the setting once?

Can I have the reports automatically scheduled to be saved to a file each night with me only having to configure the setting once.

Can I have the reports automatically scheduled to be printed each night with me only having to configure the setting once.

What are the costs involved. Initial purchasing and licensing costs.

Basically to sum up. We want the users in the offices to be able to view the reports using parameters. The data is stored on an oracle database and some of the reports need to be automatically run every night to the printer, do files, and emailed.

I haven't used Info but have customers that have so I have seen and discussed it.

Info is only up to V7, no release on V8. I got the impression that they are skipping to some hybrid for V9, but they won't officially discuss it.

Info has some limitations. Can't compile reports to a shortcut, for instance. Mostly comes with lots of confusing overhead the often requires a consultant to figure out.

Users should each be able to run, schedule and export.

I don't think you can do recurring scheduling, but I am not sure about that.

I believe it works with Oracle.

No conversion. The SQL will only help if it can be put into an Info View and used as a report source. Probably not worth the trouble, since most of the report structure has to be created. Unless the SQL is very commplicated.

Probably depends on the environment. I am not sure what it takes to configure the APS.

I don't think there is recurring scheduling, but Seagate Sales should be able to clear that up.

Up to 50 seats is free, if you can get away without consulting help.

I am in the process if setting Seagate info now and I can tell that it does have the option to schedule a recurring report. You can set it for daily, weekly, monthly, etc. As for compatibility with CR8, it isn't really, however if you aren't using any of the CR8 features and you can do a Save As.. and save it in CR7 format it should work fine. As far as I can tell the designer component has all of the funcionality of CR7.

Hope that helps.
