I have a Seagate external HDD, Model # : st3250824u2-rk.

I connect the drive to my laptop and press the drive's 'on' switch. A green light flashes on the external drive. When the drive was working, this light used to be a STEADY green, not flashing.

Now the drive is not recognised on my pc at . Has the drive totally failed?

Seagate have been no help at all.

Thanks

Operating system : Windows XP

Thanks for your reply Tony. I have tried the external drive in another pc and it is still not recognised.

The power is definitely okay, because the on/off light flashes green.

It looks like the drive is damaged in some way. Any ideas how to get data from the drive - or is it a job for a professional company?

Thanks

I suggest you send it to local data recovery company to get data.

i believe your drive need some repair and only professional data recovery can help you if your data is that much worth

Have u contacted to seagate support team?
And when did u get that HDD(i mean does it have any guarantee yet?)

Thanks for all your responses.

The Seagate support team were little help at all. I have found a company that will, hopefully, recover the data - so we'll see.

I will never purchase a Seagate external drive again.

Nice, to hear that.
btw, i've changed my opinion about Seagate after ur post.
