I'm having a problem with light to medium usage of Crystal Reports exceeding the processes on Oracle 8i. I know I can crank up the max allowed in the init.ora file, but I'm wondering if anyone knows of other precautions to take. There could potentially be very[\b] heavy usage of Crystal and if even light-medium loads is causing problems... ? Thanks for any help.

Don't know if this will help, we have Crystal and Oracle 7.3.4. But we were having problems with over 100 users being logged in, most pulling the same large report to take their small chunk out of it. This was putting quite a strain on the database server.

My boss heard of a new Crystal tool that will pull the report at certains times and then you have everyone look at that pulled version of it, thus freeing up Oracle.

I believe it was called Seagate Info. If this sounds like it will help, search Seagates site for more info...

Ever notice that by the time that you realize that you ran a truncate script on the wrong instance, it is too late to stop it?

Cheers, thanks, I'll look into it.
