I was given a Seagate Cheetah 18gig HD
and would like to put it in a Dell Precision PC
but not sure what type of Adaptec SCSI card i need to use the HD w/.

I assume there is a SCSI pci card that will work ??

DP/N is 053MUF
ST318404LC

Thanks gang

btw..i also have a Quantum Atlas HD
18.4 ultra3 (U160)SCSI is this similar ??

I know, but not any Scsi will fit in a PCI slot, thats what i''m looking for, the type of SCSI card w/ 32bit pci slot capability that has the pin # connector associated w/ this Seagate Cheetah drive

19160 will do it if you are running Windows. Otherwise a 29160 for Unix flavors. Drivers for are mutually exclusive for these two series, don't know why adaptec did this.

I think the ST318404LC is an 80pin SCA (hotswap type), whereas the 19160 is 68pin LVD. If so, you would need a convertor - that would drop the speed A LOT. The Atlas should work fine on the 19160.

Did not see the LC model, You will need a special device for the connection, but I don't think that the speed will be affected. I do not see any special cards for SCA devices on
Someone like Tiger direct should be able to help you out.
