Seagate Analysis and range date for a parameter problem

I use Crystal Reports 7.0 and create a number of reports for users. I recently installed Seagate Analysis on a few machines and some of the users are having problems with some of my reports. It seems to have something to do with the parameters I've set up with Date ranges.

This is how I set up the parameters via CR 7 program. Insert Fields/Parameter - I created new parameter called DateRange and selected Range Values radio button. Then, in the Select Expert, I selected the field and entered equal to "?DateRange" .

Everything works correctly upon refresh for users using the CR7 program but not for the users in Seagate Analyst. Any ideas? [sig][/sig]

If no one has a specific answer here are some ideas for troubleshooting:

First, do you get an error, or a blank report?

Does the report use the setting "Convert Date Time to Date"?

Does it work with a single date prompt or two separate prompts for start date and end date?

When I run the report, it populates a parameter pop up box. However, it only shows one field for a date/time instead of two. I enter in the one field only parameter page and it populates the same pop up box again. I enter the second date/time and click ok again. It just keeps on asking for dates. In the Report options, the report is set to Convert Date-Time Field: To Date-Time.

Also, it set up (as seen in CR 7 programs) as one prompt with a start and end date

I don't know for sure but it may be that Analysis doesn't support the "Range" option for parameters, which is a relatively recent innovation. Do you have the most recent version of Analysis?

You can change the report and create two separate parameters (Start Date and End Date) and use them with a between in the select expert. This does the same as a range.

See if this helps. It should give you two separate prompts (start and end). [sig]
Ken Hamady
ken@kenhamady.com
<a href= Reports Training by Ken Hamady
[/sig]
